Horsley, Bookham and Leatherhead - Riding for the Disabled Association
Riding for the Disabled Association
Horsley, Bookham and Leatherhead Riding for the Disabled Association is a local charity providing therapeutic riding sessions for children and adults with disabilities.
The volunteers and ponies provide therapy, achievement and enjoyment to visitors and riders with disabilities. The physical challenge and mental stimulus derived from riding help to improve and develop muscle tone, co-ordination, balance as well as social skills. Taking part can deliver a feeling of independence, a sense of achievement and greater self-confidence.
They run sessions throughout the week including riding exercises to teach riding skills, games and in fair weather the riders can go out for a gentle walk around the property.
