Mobility Aids and Equipment Grants

Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion may be able to help if someone is finding it difficult to get around. They can support people to gain access to services or assistance that could provide them with mobility scooters or stairlifts.

They can help people serving or ex-serving personnel.  Before people apply they should check whether they are eligible for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Armed Forces Independent Payment (AFIP), or Disability Living Allowance (DLA) mobility component to help fund their mobility needs.

They may also be able to use the PIP, AFIP, or DLA mobility component to get a car or mobility vehicle as part of the Motability scheme.

To support mobility within the home, they also offer advice and support on how to receive grants and funding for home adaptations. This can include advice on having ramps, stair rails or a stair lift installed, doors widened or rehung or bathroom and kitchen adaptations.
