Personal Health Budgets - Information, advice and support
Surrey Independent Living Charity - SILC
Personal Health Budgets are cash payments made by Clinical Commissioning Groups. They help people manage their continuing health care or long-term health conditions. These budgets give people more independence by letting them control the support they receive.
If you receive a Personal Health Budget, SILC can help you with:
- understanding Personal Health Budgets, including what they can be used for and how to manage them effectively
- setting up and managing Direct Payments, making sure you understand your responsibilities
- recruiting and employing a Personal Assistant (PA), including training, payroll and pension schemes
- completing DBS and reference checks for your PA
- providing a Supported Managed Account, managing your budget and making necessary payments, including reconciliations
When you are granted a Personal Health Budget, you will be referred to SILC for free support. If not, you can contact SILC directly and they will make sure the referral is made.
Once referred, they will discuss your specific support needs. You will have full control over your Personal Health Budget and its use.
